This Car can Withstand TORNADOES

Tornadoes are one of the most dangerous natural disasters which destroys whatever comes in its way. They are like a weapon of Devil which comes down on earth only to destroy. They might seem beautiful to you from far away and many people use to even chase them to get close and take pictures of those desasterous beast destroying people's homes and every stuff they can get.

But would you believe that we humans have made a car which can withstand those giant tornadoes. Yes, you heard it right, it's a car which is called "Tornado Intercept Vechicle (TIV)". It was built by Sean Casey who is an IMAX cinematographer . He has made two models namely TIV 1 and TIV 2.
You will probably say that it's too ugly as it looks that way but it does its works perfectly.

TIV 1

The TIV 1 is a heavily modified 1997 Ford F-Super Duty which can run into tornadoes to film it and take measurements. The TIV runs on a 7.3 litre Powerstroke Diesel Engine. It has  1/8 - 1/4 inch steel plate welded to a two inch square steel tubing frame. The windows are bullet resistent polycarbonat which is 1.5 inch thick on the windshield and 0.5 inch thick on the sides. The TiV weighs approximately 16,500 lbs or 7500 kg which is even heavier than an African Elephant.

Four hydraulic claws are used to anchor the TIV during an intercept which lowers into the ground and grapples it. Its top speed is limited to 100mph and it has a fuel tank capacity of 60 gallons (230litres).
It took 8 months to build this massive vechicle at a total cost of $81,000.

TIV 2

While if we talk about the TIV 2 which the second generation of this vechicle, it is based on a Dodge Ram 3500 which was strengthened and converted to 6 wheel drive by adding a third axle. It runs on a modified 6.7 litre Turbocharged Cummins Diesel Engine. TIV 2 was a cure to some of the problems faced in TIV 1 which were low ground clearance, lack of four wheel drive and a low top speed.

The six wheel drive in TIV 2 was again modified to four wheel drive and the engine was modified with a Propane and water injection to produce 625 horsepower which gave it a top speed of over 100mph. It's fuel tank capacity was increased to 95 gallons (360 litres). Thus, increasing its range. Its body is constructed of a 1/8 inch steel skin welded over a 2 inch square steel tubing frame. Windows are again all bullet resistent with a 1.63 inch interlayered polycarbonate sheets and tempered glass .

If we talk about its weight, then I gotta say that it has done too much dieting to reduce it to 14,300 lbs (6,500 kg). While it has got some improvement in its looks but still maintaining its boxy shape.
These Vechicles were featured in the "Storm Chasers series" of Discovery channel and they have really done their work in creating these series.

Atlast, I would like to ask, " If you get a chance to buy these vechicles then what would you do? What adventures do you wanna go on in this vechicle?
